Who is going to Heaven?

I know that this is probably the number one question in every “un-saved” persons mind, and quite probably even for the “newly saved” or as I always heard it, “baby-Christians”, when thinking of the possibility of  “life after death” and Heaven (the Kingdom of God) or Hell.

Let’s start this discussion here, (1 Corinthians 6:9-11) This contains both the bad as well as the good news.

6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! The sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, passive homosexual partners, practicing homosexuals, 6:10 thieves, the greedy, drunkards, the verbally abusive,7 and swindlers will not inherit the kingdom of God. 6:11 Some of you once lived this way. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

We all know there are more rules, but I use this example because of that last part, the underlined section, because, when you are called, and you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, that is what happens. Going to Heaven is what getting “Saved” is all about, right? I say wrong, getting saved is just the beginning, so watch out what you ask for, you just might get it.

For those that have not accepted Christ, but feel that call, I suggest that you find a local church and get to know the Lord, talk to your family, friends, neighbors, and those that you see as being a similar person about the church they are attending, because a church filled with little old ladies is great for them, but if you are a young man, the message being delivered there, may not quite be what you need to hear. I know that in my area, there are at least a dozen, all different denominations, different age groups, different values, other than the core of Jesus being Lord, so, there is one that will fit you, just look, and you will find it.

What gets me into Heaven?

This can be answered, God’s Grace, Mercy, and Forgiveness to start with but Faith is your requirement (1 Peter 1:3-9) , Faith that confessing your sins, Faith in Jesus, believing that He died sinless on the cross for your sins and mine, was resurrected and lives forever, and that you accept Him as your Lord and Savior. When you have accepted Jesus, you are washed in his blood and are clean, period, the sins that you have confessed are forgiven. Now, find that church and study the Word of God.

This is where it gets difficult (Matthew 5:17-20), once you are “saved” , start praying (Matthew 6:5-15) and remember the rules (Matthew 22:37-40), let’s go over these two rules a bit.

22:37 Jesus said to him, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 22:38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 22:39 The second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’48 22:40 All the law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.”

This sounds pretty basic, only two rules? Being a Christian is that easy? (Matthew 11:28-30) Now look at the part I have underlined, “All the law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.” Remember the Ten Commandments? That is but a part of the Jewish Law, and it is all summed up by these two? Yes, God is the Boss, Love Him, and Love your neighbor, because if you are loving your neighbor, you are not stealing from him, you are not sleeping with his wife, and definitely not killing him, see how it works?

This is one view, feel free to ask questions, leave comments, the discussion is open.
